Our history

The EDARD adventure began in 1795. The company then produced corks in Paris. Then the main factory was transferred to Arques, in Pas-de-Calais, with the creation of a glass manufacture in the 19th century, in 1860. The production of colored glass alcohol bottles employed up to 1000 employees , before the complete cessation of this activity in 1953.
The manufacture of mechanical closures for beer then begins, reaching volumes of around 30 million pieces per year. The production of canning jar closures took over in 1960.
EDARD acquired its second production site in 1995 in Alsace, producing jar closures, bucket handles and mechanical closures. This operation allowed to relaunch the activity of mechanical closure for beer, a product eclipsed in the 1970s by the crown cap, and which has been developing again since the 1990s thanks to its traditional image.
The story continues with the purchase of a larger production site in Duttlenheim in 2010, in order to fulfill your orders under the best conditions. Thanks to our know-how and expertise, EDARD is today positioned as one of the references in the mechanical closing market and we wish to continue doing so in the years to come.
